Connect WhatsApp via Facebook Page

A step-by-step walkthrough of the entire Meta embedded sign-up flow — from clicking Continue with Meta all the way to your WhatsApp number going live on Neksio.

Before You Start

Make sure you have all of the following ready before beginning the flow. Missing any one of these will cause the setup to fail or stall.

Facebook personal account

You must be able to log in to a personal Facebook account. This is your credential for the Meta flow.

Facebook Business Page

Your business must have a Facebook Page and you must be its Admin. A personal profile is not enough.

WhatsApp Business phone number

A phone number you own that is NOT already active on WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business.

WhatsApp Business app on mobile

Installed on your phone — you will scan a QR code during setup. Download from the App Store or Google Play.

Warning: If your phone number is currently active on personal WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, delete that account first before starting: open WhatsApp → Settings → Account → Delete Account. You cannot connect a number that is already registered.

Phase 1

Start in Neksio

Navigate to Channels and launch the Meta flow

Go to Channels in the Neksio sidebar

Log in to your Neksio account at platform.neksio.com. In the left sidebar, click Channels.

Click Connect next to WhatsApp

On the Channels page, find the WhatsApp card and click Connect. A Meta pop-up window opens in your browser.

Click "Continue with Meta"

Inside the pop-up, click the blue Continue with Meta button. This launches the Facebook embedded sign-up flow.

Note: Do not close the pop-up window during the flow. If it closes unexpectedly, click Connect again to restart.

Sign in to Facebook

Log in with the account that owns your business Page

Enter your Facebook credentials

Facebook's login screen appears inside the popup. Enter your Facebook email address and password, then click Log In.

Already logged in? This step is skipped

If you are already logged in to Facebook in your browser, Meta will skip the login screen and use your active session automatically.

Tip: Make sure you are logged in to the correct Facebook account — the one that is Admin of your business Page. Log out of other accounts first if needed.

Note: Your Page does not appear in the list? You are not its Admin. Ask the Page owner to go to: Facebook → Your Page → Settings → Page Roles → add your account as Admin. Then restart the flow.

Grant Neksio Permissions

Review the permissions screen

Facebook shows a screen titled “Review what you'll share with Neksio Technologies”. This is the official Meta permissions screen — it lists everything Neksio needs to manage your WhatsApp channel.

Click Next to approve

All five permissions are required. Do not uncheck any of them — Neksio needs each permission to send, receive, and route messages through your WhatsApp channel. Once you have reviewed the list, click Next.

Info: These permissions are scoped to business messaging only. Neksio cannot post to your personal Facebook timeline, access your personal profile, read personal messages, or modify your Ads account.

Phase 5

Link Your WhatsApp Business Number

Create or select a WABA and verify your phone number

Create or select a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA)

Meta asks whether you want to use an existing WhatsApp Business Account or create a new one.
  • First time? Select Create a new WhatsApp Business Account, enter your business name, and click Continue.
  • Already have a WABA? Select it from the dropdown and click Continue.

Enter your WhatsApp Business phone number

Type your number in international format — include the country code and no spaces or dashes, e.g. +97150 123 4567.

Enter the 6-digit verification code

You will receive an SMS (or voice call, depending on your selection). Enter the 6-digit code in the field and click Next.

Tip: Code didn't arrive? Wait 60 seconds then click Resend code. If using SMS fails, try Voice call instead.

Phase 6

Scan the QR Code

Use the WhatsApp Business app on your phone to complete verification

After verifying your number, Meta displays a QR code. You must scan this with the WhatsApp Business app on your mobile phone to confirm device ownership.

Scan from the WhatsApp Business app

On your phone, follow these steps:
  1. Open WhatsApp Business on your mobile phone
  2. Tap the three-dot menu ⋮ (Android) or Settings (iOS)
  3. Tap Linked Devices
  4. Tap Link a Device
  5. Point your phone camera at the QR code on your computer screen until it scans

Note: QR code expired? Click Refresh QR Code on the Meta pop-up to generate a new one. You have 2 minutes per code.

Phase 7

Confirm & Finish

Name your account, set your timezone, and complete the setup

Enter your WhatsApp Business account name

Meta prompts you to enter a display name for your WhatsApp Business account. This is the name your customers will see when you send them messages.

This name is reviewed by Meta and may take a few hours to be approved.

Tip: Choose a name that clearly represents your business (e.g. Einvotca Sales or Your Brand Support). Avoid generic names — Meta may reject them. You can update the name later from Channels → Settings.

Select your timezone

Choose the timezone of your business location. This affects message scheduling, analytics timestamps, and business hours settings.

Click Next, then Confirm

A summary screen shows everything you configured:
  • Your Facebook Page
  • WhatsApp Business Account name
  • Phone number
  • Timezone

Review everything carefully. Use Back to correct any detail. When it all looks correct, click Confirm.

Click Finish — you're live!

Click Finish. The Meta pop-up closes and you land back on the Neksio Channels page. Your WhatsApp number now displays as:
Connected

Your AI agent is now active and ready to receive and reply to WhatsApp messages.

What to do next

Set your WhatsApp Business profile photo and description in Channels → Settings

Upload documents to the Memory Hub so your AI agent knows your business

Send a test WhatsApp message to your number to confirm end-to-end delivery

Configure AI Agent handoff rules so human agents are alerted when needed

Create a WhatsApp template message and request Meta approval for campaigns

Info: If your number shows Pending after finishing, Meta is reviewing your WhatsApp Business display name. This typically resolves within a few hours and you will receive a confirmation email from Meta.

Troubleshooting

❓ My Facebook Page doesn't appear in the list

You are not an Admin of the Page. Ask the Page owner to add you: Facebook → Page Settings → Page Roles → Add Admin.

❓ My phone number is rejected

The number is likely still registered on WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business. Delete that account from the app first: Settings → Account → Delete Account.

❓ QR code keeps expiring

Make sure the Meta pop-up is in focus and your internet connection is stable. Click Refresh QR Code to generate a fresh one.

❓ My display name was rejected by Meta

Meta rejects names that are too generic, contain prohibited words, or don't clearly represent a real business. Update your name in Channels → Settings and resubmit.

❓ Status shows Pending for more than 24 hours

Contact Neksio support with your account email and the phone number you tried to connect.
